Moisture Absorption & Deodorising Homeware
Diatomite is a natural material made from fossilised remains of single-cell algae.
It is highly porous at a molecular level which enables excellent water absorption among other benefits.
Made with 100% Diatoms & Natural Minerals
Bulbul’s diatomite homeware is made with only 100% natural materials and baked at high temperatures under a kiln. It is formed under high pressure without using harmful chemicals such as pulp or cement and baked at over 1,000 °F which forms the material’s hardness while eliminating any impurities.
Dimensions
Each box includes 2 modules, each measuring 173mm by 175mm. We recommend purchasing a minimum of 3 boxes, totaling 6 modules, and increasing the quantity as needed. These modules are ideal for placement at bathroom or toilet entrances, effectively maintaining dry floors to prevent slips and falls.
Materials
Diatomite (USA; Food Grade), Elvan, Ilmenite, Zeolite and other minerals sourced from Korea.
Made in Korea
Care Information
Place Bulbul’s Diatomite Modular Bath Mat around bathrooms, toilets and kitchens to instantly absorb moisture from wet feet. The product may appear powdery out of the box due to the natural composition of the materials. Gently wipe it clean with a damp cloth before use. Using force to wipe may cause abrasions. The product should be kept dry; do not wash before use. Mold may grow if the product is left in a wet place for long periods of time.
The absorption rate and performance of Modular Bath Mat may vary based on usage intensity. Here are some care tips to maintain peak performance. You may dry under the sun once every 1 to 4 weeks or when needed. For a deep clean, remove the ceramic blocks from the plate and boil the ceramic blocks in boiling water for 15 to 30 minutes. Additionally, you may add 1 tablespoon of sodium percarbonate. Leave blocks under direct sun until completely dry. The ceramic blocks are made up of fine pores, make sure it is sufficiently dry before use. To speed up the drying process, you can place the ceramic blocks inside the microwave for 2½ minutes, or oven for 5 minutes. (Please note that oven/microwaving with trapped soap oil and dirt may leave burn marks on the ceramic block). Do not microwave the plastic plate.
In case of stubborn algae or stains, gently scrub with a sponge or fine-grit sandpaper to remove them.
Even broken ceramic pieces retain their properties. Reuse them as dehumidifiers for your wardrobe or shoe cabinets to give them a second life.
Recommended time for Microwave
2 minutes 30 seconds on 800-1000 Watt power
(Please note that microwaving with trapped soap oil and dirt may leave burn marks on product)
Recommended time for oven for all products is 5 minutes on 200°C with fan for an even distribution of heat.
(Please note that baking with trapped soap oil and dirt may leave burn marks on product)
In case of stubborn algae or stains, gently use fine-grit sandpaper to remove them.
Broken pieces still retain their property. Re-use them as dehumidifiers for your wardrobe or shoe cabinets to give the broken pieces a second life.

How is it different?

Feature
Microwavable.
Our diatomite stands out due to its remarkable feature: microwave-friendly drying. Unlike typical diatomite products, which blend in plastics and fibers, our diatomites are crafted in a ceramic-like manner, fired under high temperatures. This unique composition allows for efficient drying when microwaved, offering a practical solution to moisture absorption.

Feature
Boilable.
For the occasional deep clean, you can boil it to displace any trapped oils and dirt that are being absorbed by the diatomite. Make sure to dry it completely before use.

Feature
Dry it under the Sun.
If you do not have access to a microwave or simply prefer not to use one, the sun-drying method is a suitable alternative. Place the product outdoors on a sunny day, and you can be confident it will not deform.

Natural Variations in Diatomite.
Due to the unique composition of our product, involving the careful baking of a homogenous blend of natural minerals and diatomite, slight color variations may occur between product batches. These variations can be challenging to control due to the natural state of these minerals. You might notice a subtle pinkish hue in the diatomite, which can be attributed to the presence of iron oxide minerals or organic matter. Iron oxide minerals like hematite or goethite may infuse the diatomite with a reddish or pinkish tint, and occasional marbling may arise from variations in the mineral mixture.
